This is a unique self-guided Studio Tour, a not-to-be-missed visit to 31 resident properties of artists and artisans, showcasing their individual talents and creations for your enjoyment and purchase. A free, easy to follow map is available at the Ganges Info Center, which will guide you to each individual studio and allow you the opportunity to "Take the Adventure and Make Your Discovery"

 is Canada's best loved outdoor arts, crafts, and farmers market.The market runs every Saturday, rain or shine, mid April to mid October, 8:30 to 3:30 pm. The market is for internationally acclaimed arts and crafts, all locally produced on Canada's 'Island of the Arts'. It is for potters, jewelers, fiber artists, woodworkers, and other creative folk who have made a name for themselves.
The market is made up of local artists, farmers, and food vendors who have all 'made it, baked it, or grown it' themselves. This simple policy requirement is the essence of the market. Visitors are treated to local food, music and crafts, stemming from Salt Spring's unique brand of 'island ingenuity'. Salt Spring Island is known for being home to the greatest collection of artists in Canada and is also known as the "Organic Gardening Capital of Canada."

Since its origins as the local Gulf Island farmer's market, the Salt Spring Saturday Market has grown to near-bursting capacity.Now filled with the colors and flavors of more than 100 artisans of all types and ages, you'll find many are the same who contribute towards Salt Spring's international reputation.

Cycling & Walking Tours
Fear not! There are plenty of wide open spaces to roam on the island. Salt Spring has many bike routes ranging in difficulty, with ampel opportunity to see the landscapes of the island. Ruckle Park Provincial Park
 Originally farmed by the Ruckle family who first settled in 1872, the park is at Beaver Point on the eastern corner of Salt Spring Island. The point is noted for its miniscule coves, rocky headlands and 7 km of shoreline. The park is a favourite with cyclists and youth groups. Walking trails are not well-developed but the coastline is open.
Golfing
 And don't forget your clubs! Salt Spring Island has Canada's only "Organic" Golf Course at the Blackburn Meadows Golf Club. This nine hole course can give you a light workout in the sunshine.

Wildlife Viewing
... and we're not just talking about the locals! Salt Spring Island is home to a variety of birds, wildlife, and sea mammals including deer, bald eagles, blue herons, sea lions, and otters. We even have the odd killer whale wander by. The sealife is both colorful and fascinating.

 If you want to have a more hands on experience with the sea, there are opportunities to kayak, canoe, or row boat around the various harbours and lagoons.

Salt Spring is an excellent place for your children to participate in local workshops and day camp activities oriented to foster their imagination and creative talents.
Fables Cottage, www.fablescottage.com, offers workshops for kids all year-round. As well, there are opportunities to participate in Story Time at the local library.
Salt Spring Island Daycare services are also available to offer you some child care flexibility and offer your children the chance to play with the locals, do arts and crafts and reading, under the careful supervision of the daycare staff.
